Web Services Support Modules

Web Services Support Modules are the modules that provide functionality commonly found in corporate transaction applications, for example currency exchange conversion, tax calculations, and accounting journal generation.

This functionality is provided as Web Services that can be called from IntegraTx's client applications and from the Core Transaction Modules.

These modules are available not only as Web Services, but also as methods that can be invoked from Java classes that extend and customize Core Transaction Modules. Therefore, Web Services Support Modules are provided in three ways:

• As Web Services available to authorized Client Applications.
• As Web Services available to Core Transaction Modules.
• As Java/J2EE methods that are called automatically or programatically from Core Transaction Modules. These methods can be integrated with J2EE Enterprise Bean (local and/or remote) and/or from simple Java classes.
  

Support Modules include:

• Currency Exchange Rates. For example, rates are used to consolidate transactions realized in different currencies.
• Entities (clients, suppliers, brokers, etc.). Entities can be used, for example, to manage consolidated client positions, such as current accounts.
• Tax rates. Tax calculations on transactions triggered from different applications can be implemented in a single consolidated information source.
• Accounting journaling. Every business transaction creates an accounting journal entry. IntegraTx already provides the needed functionality to generate accounting entries automatically.
• In the future, any common functionality can be implemented in IntegraTx, and will be immediately available to all the Client Applications.

What happens if Support Modules already exist in the company that wishes to implement IntegraTx? Will this create duplicate applications?

The Support Modules include optional access to other applications, if their functionality is already implemented, or the company wishes to use a different application instead of a specific Support Module. For example, exchange rates can be accessed from an already existing application, or can be imported daily from a different database. Therefore, IntegraTx can be used as a Web Services adapter.
